Her research, writing, and practice has focused on children’s adjustment to divorce, custody and access issues, using child development research in parenting plans, divorce mediation, and Parenting Coordination. She has published more than 90 articles and chapters, and a classic book, Surviving the Breakup: How Children and Parents Cope with Divorce. Joan is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, has received the Distinguished Mediator Award from the Academy of Family Mediators, the Stanley Cohen Distinguished Research and the Meyer Elkin Awards from the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. She is a frequent presenter and speaker in the United States, Canada, and abroad. |
