FEE:
  $1400 for 5-day course; $850 for 3-day course; $600 for 2-day course*

   *Permission of instructors required if attending only last 2 days.

Early registration:

For March 2013 course: $1200 if by Jan. 28, 2013, $1300 if by Feb. 11, 2013.

For October 2013 course: $1200 if by Sept. 16, 2013; $1300 if by September 30, 2013.

CE CREDITS:   MCLE, BBS & CPA (formerly MCEP) - 37.5 hours for 5-day course; 24 hours for 3-day course; and 16 hours for 2-day course.

DESCRIPTION:
Learn to mediate with skill and heart. Two dynamic master mediators share their knowledge, experience and philosophies about guiding parties to better understanding and durable resolutions. Practical skill-building grounded in theory and research. Lectures, demonstrations, exercises and role plays. Extensive manual with forms included. Participants may attend one or both parts of the course.


HIGHLIGHTS OF COURSE CONTENT

The first 3 days will focus on Essentials of Mediation,
with reference to both family and business contexts, including:
  • Psychology of conflict and conflict management

  • Models of conflict resolution

  • Ethics of mediation
  • Elements and phases of a mediation

  • Drafting agreements
  • Reframing hostile communication

  • Assertion and structuring skills
  • Neutrality

  • Negotiation theory and practice
  • Listening and empathy skills
    		•
  • Effective questions
    • The last 2 days will focus on Divorce Mediation,
    exclusively, focusing on:
  • Psychology of divorce
    		•
  • Division of assets and debts
  • Parenting and custody agreements
    		•
  • Child, spousal and family support
  • Domestic violence and mediation
    		•
  • Role of family law in mediation

    • WHO SHOULD ATTEND
    All who would like to develop mediation skills, including therapists, attorneys, human resource professionals, managers, health care providers, religious leaders, educators, and consultants.
