DESCRIPTION:
In one day, you will learn the basic substantive family law in California on community property, parenting and custody, child and spousal support and Federal tax law applicable in divorces. The format is lecture and discussion and includes a manual with detailed outlines for each subject area.

This is an introductory course directed toward non-attorneys, although attorney-mediators new to family law will find it very helpful.

  • Characterization, valuation and division of community property
  • Separate property reimbursements
  • Valuing a business and pensions
  • Child support and spousal support guidelines
  • Child custody, visitation and mediation
  • Tax issues regarding property, support and custody
